Wideangle publishes clear, carefully checked explanations of things that are usually explained badly.
Wideangle exists for a narrow reason: a great deal of useful information is published either too briefly to be usable or too long to be read. We try to land in between — long enough to actually answer the question, short enough to finish.
What we cover
Technology, money, health, everyday life and culture. The connecting thread is not the subject but the format: something that is widely misunderstood, explained once, properly.
How we work
Every article states what is established, what is estimated and what is disputed. Where a claim depends on a source, we say which source. Where the honest answer is "it depends," we say what it depends on rather than rounding it into false confidence.
We publish corrections rather than quietly editing. If an article has been materially changed after publication, the date of that change appears at the top.
What we do not do
We do not give personalised medical, legal or financial advice, and nothing here should be treated as such. We explain how things work so that you can have a better conversation with someone qualified to advise you.
